Cerebral Palsy, CP, Natural TreatmentCerebral Palsy: A Developmental Disability

Though Cerebral Palsy (CP) is among the leading lifelong developmental disabilities in the United States, upper cervical chiropractic gives those people who suffer from this condition the best hope at overcoming this debilitating health condition.

Cerebral Palsy Research

Among the growing evidence that this gentle and specific type of chiropractic has great health benefits for people who suffer from CP is a study by Dr. William Amalu of the  International Upper Cervical Chiropractic Association. His case study tells of a five year old blind boy who suffered from Cerebral Palsy, chronic ear infections, and up to severe seizures.

Though, after Dr. Amalu examined the young boy, he discovered a misalignment in his upper cervical spine. The boy’s upper cervical spine was adjusted, so as to restore that communication process between his brain and his body.

The Healing Begins

Then, the next day the mother noted the night after her son’s initial adjustment he had the first good night’s sleep he had in weeks. The second adjustment led to a reduction in seizures from 30 a day to only 10 a day, a lessening of incessant and uncontrollable moaning, the ability to clap, better sleep, higher awareness, the ability to sit up and look around, the ability to identify the source of sounds and pay attention to them, and a reduction in seizures to only five a day.

After the third and fourth weeks of care, though the seizures continued to occur five times per day, the severity of his seizures lessened. His sleepless nights ceased altogether, he said the word “dada” for the first time, and his therapist noted an improvement in his vision after the fourth week of care.

This boy’s amazing story of healing goes on and on, and we want to make sure we don’t leave anything out. That’s why we’ll continue our story in our next blog post to tell of how upper cervical chiropractic led to a drastic improvement in the quality of this boy’s life.
