In this blog we have discussed how a misalignment can occur due to accidents and injuries and how these upper neck misalignments affect the all-important nervous system and how this nervous system dysfunction can lead to a variety of health problems.
Another example was recently published in the Journal of Upper Cervical Chiropractic Research. A 17-year-old female patient with a loss of balance, speech difficulties and postural distortion following the removal of a brain tumor 4 years prior was seen in an Upper Cervical office.
A case history and Upper Cervical examination was performed and it was determined that the patient had a misalignment of the C1 (atlas) vertebra. The patient received care following the National Upper Cervical Chiropractic Association (Upper Cervical) protocol. The duration of care was five months and the patient was seen 28 times. At each visit she was checked for misalignment and was adjusted a total of 26 times.
The patient reported a significant improvement in her balance and experienced a 90% improvement in her speech.
Changes in Blood, CSF and Nerve Flow
Scientific research tells us when a child has suffered a misalignment in their upper neck the brain and nervous system is severely affected. Blood and cerebrospinal fluid flow is changed, leading to changes in the way the brain is actually functioning.
A gentle Upper Cervical correction of this misalignment changes the way the brain is working and restores proper mental function allowing symptoms to improve naturally.
