An article in the Journal of Pediatric, Maternal & Family Health told the story of a three-year boy who was diagnosed with Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PDD) by a developmental pediatrician. PDD is a conditions on the spectrum of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and is developmental in nature, yet there is no know cause for the disease.

Although, PDD usually becomes more noticeable to parents around the child’s eighteenth month of of age, the parents of this boy took notice when he was 15 months old. He also showed signs of Apraxia, which is a disorder of the nervous system, as well speech delay. though, whether or not those behavioral changes lead to a diagnosis of PDD or not depends on an inclusion of certain impairments.

  • Repetitive or restricted behavior or interests
  • Lack of meaningful language skills
  • Lack of empathy
  • Lack of motor skills

The article detailed the care of the child by an upper cervical chiropractor for five months. This care led to various lifestyle changes that caused the young boy’s quality of life to improve.
