There is something about children you may not know, and that is that sometimes even children suffer from migraines. Though, they may not know how to express themselves, or that they should express their pain, which is why it’s important for parents to be aware of the signs.
Jacob’s Migraine Pain
In one case, a 12 year old boy, Jacob Holladay was admitted to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles due to the severity of his migraines, which he had been suffering for the five days. He described his suffering by saying, “It generates from my right and left temple but mostly my left one.” This caused him to miss a week of school, which was the third week of school he had missed due to his migraines since the beginning of the year.
According to pediatric neurologists, childhood migraines are more common than many people think. Studies shows they occur in 5% of children under 10 years of age and 10% of all preteens and teens.
This article goes on to say “kids with migraines often grow up to become adults with migraines. That’s why experts say learning to prevent them and find ways to manage them early will help keep them under control.” The bad news is that the FDA hasn’t approved headache medication to help the pain and suffering of those children who suffer from migraines, the good news is there is a better answer anyways.
A Change in Cerebral Fluid
The underlying cause of many migraines may be a change in the flow of cerebrospinal fluid and cerebral blood between the brain and the body. This alteration in these flows is frequently due to a misalignment in the upper neck vertebrae that are often caused by accidents that cause injuries to the upper neck.
What that means is that the best way to restore the brain’s ability to communicate with the body is to correct any misalignments in the upper neck. This will allow the cerebrospinal fluid and cerebral blood to flow normally again, so the body can begin to heal itself.
